On Monday 15th September 2008, having formed only months before, Citizen released their debut E.P "You don't know my name" at Dublin's Tower Records. The release was received with rave reviews from press and fans alike. Over the following days the store would continually sell out of copies.
Following the release of You don't know my name Citizen traveled the length and breadth of the country, playing dates in many of Irelands most popular music venues; including Whelans, Roisin Dubh and Crawdaddy. Including these headline and support slots, Citizen also appeared regularly on the college circuit. The band featured on line up's at many Irish Universities Fresher and rag week festivals. Including dates at UCD and NUI Maynooth, Citizen played headline shows at the rag week festivals of both NUI Galway and Institute of art design & technology Dun Laoghaire (IADT).
While gigging heavily in support of their debut release, Citizen took a brief break to return to the studio to demo some new material. This time Citizen availed of the services of top producer, and all round musical know it all, Keith Farrell (Mundy, Pugwash, Halite, Duckworth Lewis Method). At the end of a highly productive session, Citizen emerged with demo recordings of "Screaming out my name" and "I'm standing alone". The promise shown in these recordings excited the band and Citizen locked themselves away in the rehearsal room to work on new material. Since the start of 2009 the band has been gigging extensively with their new songs.
In August 2009 Citizen once more engaged the services of Mr. Farrell, and have just finished mixing and mastering material for their next release, "C'mon, Go Rising", due for release on 25th September.
To celebrate the release of their new single, the band will be providing a free bus for fans who wish to make the journey to Galway for the launch party. Always willing to go the extra mile, Citizen have also arranged free entry to both the venue and the nightclub for all who make the trip in support of the band!
Hailed as Ireland's finest three piece, the future looks bright for this hard working trio...

they intend to go on, it would be advisable to see

loves and broken hearts packaged up in
snappy songs with killer beats."
