A damn fine example of gravel-voiced country rock, these songs are full of unaffected, unrefined humanity, a kind of world-weary, warts n all honesty thats getting rarer in music - Hotpress 2006
Mansions Of Gold is the title of the new album from Eamonn Dowd & The Racketeers. A raw rootsy affair - 11 new songs including the singles ‘Women Around Here,’ ‘45’ and ‘Sweet Angel.’

It rocks , it roll’s and it exists in a world all of its own. You’d get the impression that these guys don’t give a damn about trends, radio play or commercial success. And you’d be right ! On this collection, Dowd lets rip on electric guitar, producing walls of feedback. Lyrically it takes you someplace else, another world, another time, and throughout, Les Keye and Chris Teusner hold down the beat. And then there’s the plaintive ballads augmented by organ, banjo and saxaphone.
Since the mid 90’s Irish man Dowd has fronted The Racketeers as they brought their fiery brand of americana / rock n roll to audiences throughout Europe, releasing four albums along the way. In recent years Eamonn has also toured in a solo / acoustic capacity, blazing a trail through Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, the Baltics, USA and Canada.
Produced by Les Keye, this new album is released on Berlin based label Cannary Row Records on Monday February 2nd. Initally, it will be available mail order through the bands website (paypal) and from CDBaby.com. Downloads will be available from CDBaby.com, Downloadmusic.ie, I Tunes and all the usual outlets. From April the album will be in all good record stores in Germany via Pool Distribution.
