In December 2005 Kopek. were crowned winners of the Global Battle of the Bands in the London Astoria. The judges on the night were Steve Lilywhite (renowned U2 and Smiths producer) and rock n’ roll veteran Glen Matlock (The Sex Pistols). After a blistering performance that ended Steve’s career due to hearing difficulties and left Matlock in need of a lower jaw, nobody could deny them their prize. Fresh from their victory the lads wasted no time kicking off on a world tour that featured an appearance in front of over 50,000 people at the Zocalo festival in Mexico. Since then they’ve been busy in studio and recorded their debut and 2nd single with music industry icon and producer, Danny Saber (Rolling Stones, Black Grape, Public Enemy) and are currently recording with Leo Pearson (Elvis Costello/ U2). With their eyes now focused towards the international 'live' circuit there will be no stopping the explosive energy of this 3-piece powerhouse returning to redeem rock n’roll to its truest form. .. .. Their debut single ‘STOP’ released in June 2007 peaked at number 14 in the Irish CD charts and their greatly anticipated debut LP is due to drop this coming summer. The band have been receiving rave reviews and numerous praises for their efforts to date and with a live show that would blow the steel off an armoured tank, 'Kopek' are one of the must see 'live' bands of 2008... ..
